A new deal has been announced to build an $850 million entertainment complex in downtown Orlando that will be the first Disney-LucasArts theater to open in the country.
The complex will be home to more than a dozen themed theaters and an additional three hotels.
It’s the largest theater development in the US, according to the Orlando Economic Development Commission.
The Orlando City Council approved the deal in December, and the project was officially announced on Friday.
Here’s a look at some of the other major deals announced over the last few months.
The Disney/Marvel/LucisArts Theater to open near the Magic Kingdom in 2019.
Disney will create its own entertainment complex to serve as a temporary home for its upcoming Marvel Studios film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in 2019, Disney said in a statement on Friday afternoon.
The project is expected to cost between $1.9 billion and $2.2 billion.
It will be a major addition to Orlando’s growing downtown and will include a hotel, restaurants and entertainment venues, including the new “Star Wars” hotel and restaurants.
The first phase of the project, which is expected in 2021, will include the building of a six-story residential building at 1221 S. Main St., according to Disney.
The site will be used as a site for the “Star Trek” film, the company said in the statement.
“The Star Trek movie will be filmed in a new, state-of-the-art, multi-sensory, 3D-visualization-based, fully immersive world,” the company added.
“This new version of the Star Trek universe will provide the greatest immersive experience yet, bringing a whole new level of storytelling to fans and audiences around the world.”
The first Phase II will also include a larger theater with additional parking and a large restaurant and lounge space.
The $1 billion deal will help make up for the loss of a second phase of construction due to the completion of the first phase.
The second phase, expected to be completed by 2021, would see a massive new convention center in downtown Disney, complete with a convention center plaza.
Disney will spend $500 million to build a new theater, a convention and shopping center, and new restaurants in Orlando, the Orlando City Corporation said in its news release.
It is part of a $2 billion development plan for the area that includes the addition of a convention, shopping center and other downtown businesses.
Disney has also announced plans to build two hotels and an apartment building on the site of the proposed “Starbucks” in the former “Star Tours” theme park in downtown Florida.
